About The Artist
Nancy
McConeghy is an artist of color, light and serenity. Her watercolors offered in limited editions, were inspired by visits to the English countryside, particularly the quiet country villages. As a way of sharing her travels, these images bring peace and serenity, into a fast paced world too full of stress. Come, enjoy, and savor the calm.
Nancy has been an artist for over thirty years. She grew up in Bethesda, Maryland, the youngest of three children. Her parents instilled art appreciation through their own love of art, museums and traveling. She received her BFA, graduating with honors, from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. Her junior year was spent in Florence, Italy. It was there that her passion for art, light, and travel became a lifelong inspiration. After graduation, she taught art in Richmond, Virginia for Henrico County schools.
She and her husband then moved to the Atlanta, Georgia area. During the years of raising her children, Nancy created a thriving business called House Portraits. This involved custom pen & ink, as well as watercolor renderings of homes, churches and businesses. Working for several realtors and architects in an active real estate area, she has done over a thousand of pieces of custom art work.
Over the years she has been blessed
to travel extensively, in particular to Italy, France, and England. Walking
the streets of the renaissance artists in Italy and the paths of
the impressionists in Provence, has created the heritage and inspiration for her art. Desiring to share the calmness and tranquility experienced in her travels has become the impetus for her art work.
She offers the viewer a chance to slow down and savor the glimpse of peace, of the golden glow of light, color, and detail of a small segment of life. Come visit manor homes, gated gardens and village lanes in her current series of watercolors. Linger in the art and the serenity.
